Scooby Doo Mystery Of The Fun Park Phantom
Another of the Scooby doo hits, this game was launched in 1999 and developed by Engineering Animation Inc. and was published by Southpeak interactive. This was the original and first commercial game for windows operating system.
This game is for children up to the young teens. The game play starts from an old farmhouse which is adjacent to an abandoned amusement park. The Mystery machine breaks down and the gang approaches the farmhouse for help. They come to know that Gobs, resident of the farmhouse own the amusement park. The park is haunted by a phantom that is scaring all the customers away, which has led the Gobs to the state of bankruptcy, forcing him to sell the amusement park. The gang agrees on a pact with the Gobs in finding who is behind this in exchanging for getting their van repaired.
The player can choose the role of any of the gang members to play as except for Scooby Doo. The role of Scooby is to help the gang members throughout the game play time to time. The players wander the park looking for clues. The park is divided into 9 subsections, each having a different attraction such as a roller coaster. Some areas also contain employees and neighbors wandering in the deserted park. All these have some intentions for wanting the park closed. Along with finding clues, the players can acquire so called trap pieces which will help them to catch the culprit. These are of two types, rare and common. Though the common pieces are located in several places all around the park, rare pieces are located only in a single location. Each trap requires 2 common and one rare piece. A number of Scooby snacks are also scattered all along the park, with which the player can coax Scooby to help them, and assigning a wheel of chaos for other players. A minimum of 2 gang members must indulge in solving a particular mystery. In case of a single player, computer is assigned the second player.
Each player takes turns in moving their player further. Each action costs them a certain number of points. Picking up a clue or Scooby snack costs one point or taking the manhole (shortcut) takes two. The wheel of chaos is assigned from player to player, costing one Scooby snack. It is like a fortune teller's wheel, and results in an unfortunate event for the receiving player. The receiving player may block this in exchange of a Scooby snack. The wheel of fun is opposite to the wheel of chaos. It gives you some kind of bonus on spinning. Once the player gets three clues, they get to know who is the culprit and sets a trap for him. The player must be in the correct area to trap the culprit. If the player tries to trap the phantom before three clues, this will result in bungled trap event.
